Phlash Paper In Nature Genetics
Our PHLASH paper, Accelerated Bayesian inference of population size history from recombining sequence data, has (finally!) appeared in Nature Genetics. The paper introduces a new Bayesian method for demographic inference from whole-genome sequence data that is fast, scalable, phase-invariant, and equipped with uncertainty quantification. A key technical ingredient is a new algorithm for computing the score function of a coalescent hidden Markov model at essentially the same cost as evaluating the likelihood, which makes full Bayesian inference practical on modern hardware.
